How did this all start?
The game was developed from my own experiences in the classroom. There is so much information that students are required to remember, and I felt responsible for maximizing the comprehension of the material among my students. People learn best when they are engaged in a game, no matter what age, no matter what subject.
I started by introducing simple question based games into the classroom, and the results were amazing. Students not only started to perform better on tests, they were able to effectively store the information for long-term comprehension.
How did it expand from your classroom to what it is now?
My homemade games were so effective that I wanted to develop a game that can be easily be implemented into classrooms and study groups across the country. That's when I started to formalize my initial prototypes to the product it is today. The feedback has been amazing from educators. Every medical, physical assistant, and nurse practitioner program should implement MedHead® into the classroom.
A game for medical students?
The importance of building a solid foundation of medical terminology and physical exam techniques for future doctors, nurse practitioners, physical assistants, or anything in between, is important.
Though the product I developed is packaged as a game, there is so much more to it.
If a "game" helps develop a solid foundation in medical terminology, then this type of educational tool should be embraced everywhere.
What is the future of your product?
The current product that my company has developed is called Medhead®, the Physical Exam Edition.
The success of this game is inspiring Creative Medical Learning, LLC. to look for new areas where an interactive medical game can be an effective supplement.
